Using its state-of-the-art camera technology (the SVII) to capture high-resolution 360-degree panoramic images, the Catlin Seaview Survey team is able to do surveys of large areas quickly and to collect huge amounts of data. The Catlin Seaview Survey has already completed hundreds of missions in the Caribbean, Great Barrier Reef and other parts of the world. The baseline survey will help in the management of coral reefs and enable changes to be clearly monitored over time. This will help everyone to work out what needs to be done to best protect coral reefs now and into the future. All the data collected is openly available at the Catlin Global Reef Record.
