A little Indonesian boy named Fajar snorkels with whale sharks for the first time in his life in Cendrawasih Bay, West Papua Indonesia. Fajar's dad works on a fishing platform called a bagan for months at a time. The whale sharks come and feed on smaller fishes that fit through the holes of the net underneath. A Bajau Laut girl collects shellfish near the village of Torosiaje in Sulawesi. The Bajau used to live nomadic lives at sea though most have now moved to stilt villages like this one. Torosiaje is a kilometre out to see and can only be reached by boat, however. A few of the Bajau in the area still live for most of the year on their Lepa boats. China just put surface to air missiles on one of the disputed 'islands' in the South China Sea, in the latest escalation. Even geopolitical playgrounds have their bullies - but despite what many regard as a unilateral land grab by Beijing (in fact there is no land, so they had to construct it!), all the neighbouring countries and the international community need to find a long term diplomatic solution.
