Pemuteran is a tranquil Bay with sandy beaches nestled amongst the mountains in the northwest Bali close to the island of Menjangan. This destination is home to an award winning, locally managed coral restoration project and a family friendly place to snorkel and dive. Off the beaten track, the drive up from Bali’s busy southern tourist hubs is reason in itself to make the trip, passing through some of the island’s most breathtaking mountain scenery. With the mighty Gunung Agung volcano behind it and the fertile Indian Ocean in front, Pemuteran is equally beautiful.

STAY

Taman Sari is a serene little oasis located on the beach that provides a selection of rooms and villas with a beach-side restaurant serving local and internatlonal flavours. This hotel was established by Balinese social entrepreneur Pak Prana, who employs only locals staff and who was repsonsible for establishing the coral restoration project.

 



PLAY

Pemuteran Bay provides excellent local diving as well as day trips to Menjangan island, one of Bali’s best dive sites . Located in front of Taman Sari is the award winning coral restoration project. The coral garden, regenerated using a unique method called bio-rock that passes a small electrical charge through metal structure, is easily accessible from the beach and is a lovely snorkel full of fish and coral. A trip to the Biorock centre is a must to learn more and understand the great success of this programme.
